The Hotel is located in Piazzale Roma, downtown Saltino, a little suburb of Reggello, 30 km from Florence.
The name of Saltino ("small cliff") derives from its natural position above the headland, looking onto Florence; infact, looking on the EAST side of Florence you can see the mountain “Pratomagno” and, on its top, you can distinguish the white Houses of Saltino. That Area, crossroads among Valdisieve, Casentino, Valdarno and Chianti, is Climatic Station 1000 m height and it is well konwn around the world.

Here you can find the centuries-old “Vallombrosa Forest” with the historical church “Abbazia di San Giovanni Gualberto”, which first building is dated 1038. Starting from Hotel Moderno, after just 100 m. you reach the Vallombrosa Forest and you can also reach the Abbazia in 5 km. Walking trought the forest on a very nice street with very high Trees and fresh water springs, you will find very unusual places, made more and more beautiful thanks to the monk's centuries-work. The big mountain around, crossed by many paths of which we can give you maps, is perfect for hiking or mountain bike.

A regular bus service connects the Hotel with towns around and with Florence, so that it is possible to visit Saltino or Museums in Florence without using the car.
